Patricia G. Leavy, PhD, is a licensed psychologist currently practicing in Fernandina Beach, Florida through the use of telehealth formats and in person. She provides psychological services to children in kindergarten through 5th grade, and people ages 18 through geriatrics who are experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological issues. Dr. Patricia Leavy draws on more than 30 years of experience. Some of the issues Dr. Leavy assists with include child behavior management problems, bullying, childhood anxiety, childhood depression, and family & friends relationships. Dr. Patricia Leavy assists with family and parenting issues, marriage and divorce issues, elder care issues, caregiver burnout, chronic illness and grief. Dr. Leavy also addresses both active military personnel issues as well as their family issues. She also works with veterans and the many challenges they and their loved ones face together. Additionally, she has worked with children, adolescents, adults, the geriatric population, families, and couples in need of psychological services in inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Leavy has worked with the college student population for many years to assist with the numerous opportunities for growth as well as the many challenges college students of all ages face.
Beyond her professional career, Patricia G. Leavy, PhD, served on the Board of Directors for Micah’s Place, a shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. She was a member of a multi-county sexual abuse treatment program for children and non-offending caregivers. In addition, she has served on several school advisory councils, monitoring programs and developing ways to meet educational demands effectively. Furthermore, Dr. Leavy has participated in numerous presentations, and written two professional articles on the topics of the development of sex roles in children, and therapist autonomy as countertransference.
Dr. Patricia Leavy brings a wide range of experience, knowledge and expertise to assist more effectively her clients and has a passion for helping others learn how to overcome obstacles in order to enjoy life more completely.
As someone raised in a military household and now a cancer survivor, Dr. Leavy brings both professional training and lived experience to her work with individuals facing emotional and physical challenges.
Although Dr. Leavy has lived in many different states, she considers herself to be a Floridian. In her spare time, Dr. Leavy enjoys reading, listening to music, attending theater productions, exploring new areas of the United States and spending time with friends and family members.
